My fiance and I are building our own home in the not so distant future, and with a large house and hopefully a large family, I might need a little help.
We were thinking of a live in maid and with the problems in the Phillipines, plus the notriety of how resepctful and helpful these maids really are, AND that so many speak fluent English, it got me to thinking- Why not find a Filipino maid?
But the big question is- where do I find one?
Btw, alot of people hire foreign live in maids because they are cheap labor and easy to control. This is not the case with me. She (and any other family with her) have 2 bedrooms dedicated to them, their own kitchen, health and dental care, the works. And I’m not wanting them to do all the work for me, just help me do it myself.
Actual payout is still cheaper for live in maids than maids who come into the home during the day and leave in the evening. This is because most of the expenses are already paid by the employer as a part of the bills they get monthly anyways.
Meaning, it’s still gonna cost me lots of MOOLA! I just want to help out some one who is in a less than perfect (at least in American eyes) position by employing them in the US.
Ok, I wasn’t thinking to mention this earlier, but I think I should put it out there now- I don’t want her working on a visa. I want to help her get citizenship.
Then why not hire a legal american if you don’t want cheap labor. You might be able to purchase one from the sex slave industry.

Your Criteria should be who can be someone you trust and can do the job correctly not based on race. Wow

You will not be able to hire a maid and take her to the US to work for you if you live there permanently. She cannot work with a tourist visa, and there is no longer an immigrant visa category for unskilled labor.

Absolutely no visas for unskilled labor are being issued right now. If you need a maid or a nanny look in the yellow pages of your phone book. There are plenty of them and they’ll do a darn good job too.

Contact an agency…perhaps one that specializes in au paires and nannies. We found a wonderful nanny from Russia. We sponsored her visa…provided room and board and a small wage. She helped with the housework and picked the kids up from school and babysat when we wanted to go out. We provided a car and she went to college and taught music the rest of the time. We are STILL great friends, even though she has now married and started a new life.
She will HAVE to work on a Visa. You start with a Visa…then you apply for permanent resident status. She can’t come over to work without a Visa.

prove to US authorities that you can NOT find a maid in the USA and only then she might be considered for a visa 98% are refused

Wow! Did you see the Nanny Diaries? I don’t believe you! If you are so noble in your quest, why not get a maid from the U.S.!!!!
