  • What is the Christian thing to do? Why do these things happen?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

What is wrong with the dental asst., my mom & my bro? What would you do?
Today we woke up so my bro could go to the dentist at the veterans hosp. Things were going well until my bro went in and the dental asst was yelling at him. I could hear her all the way where I was waiting. That set him off. When he was trying to make an appt for next time she came all the way over where he was to tell my mom that he smelled and she couldn’t work with that offensive odor and that he can’t follow simple instructions. We reported her to patient advocate. My bro took a bath and had on brand new clothes which is hard for him to do. He was slighty musty but it really was barely noticeable. Why do vets get such bad treatment.
My bro is both mentally & physically ill so he started verbally abusing my mom and she was arguing with him. Sometimes I think she likes the victim role which is hard for me to accept b/c she is my rock. She tried to talk to me after my bro went home but I really didn’t even say anything. I don’t know how to respond anymore.
We just got back and he’s still going off about the same thing that happened at the dentist.

I would have done just what you all did… Have her reported and find another doctor. Compassion should have come in to play by the dental assistant.

Its out of fustration and probably embarrassment that your brother is lashing out…. Let him vent alittle but let him know you understand and that your all on his side regardless….

As for your mom God Bless Her Heart…she sounds like a rock. Be her shoulder when she needs you and when your brother calms down you might want to sit with him and remind him…she was only trying to help…

So sorry God Bless Your Family and May His Peace be in All Your Hearts….

  • For people with experiencie in Article Revenue Sharing: How long before starting to make money?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I started with article revenue sharing about 1 month ago, I write for 4 sites, and averaging 2 articles per day (I have over 60 articles now).

My question is, how long will those articles take to start making me money? I know they have to rank in Google, anyone knows how long does that take?

Any experiencie will be helpful!

I tried this for a couple of months on a couple of sites, but didn’t have much luck with it. I think I only put up like 30 articles and they really didn’t get many hits and my earnings were only pennies, so I gave up. I just didn’t have time to keep at it (and honestly speaking, my writing skills aren’t all that great), and it all just seemed pointless for pennies. I ended up starting my own informational travel website and have found some success with it. I use Google Adsense, which, though it took me a year to reach my first $100 payout, it still was worth more than the revenue sharing sites (maybe if I had stuck with them this would be different) but the ads alone more than paid for the domain name and hosting I had to buy. Things seem to be picking up this year too, and I figure it can only get better from here.

I’d be interested to hear what other people have to say about the revenue sharing site though, maybe I should have given them a longer trial?

  • Question about Running and Toning my body?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I started this new thing :Operation "Hot Bod"

I’m a beginner runner, so I am starting out with run walk intervals with a ratio of 2.45 : 1 (Walking for 2:45 minute, and running for 1 minute, I do about 4 intervals) My time as a beginner is 11:15 for .7 miles. Anyways, I also am adding 50 sit ups in the morning and 50 at night. For my arms I bought a shake weight. I’m doing at home exercises because I’m in dental school so I have very limited time. Due to the fact that being in shape will help me ergonomically sitting in the operators chair in the operatories bending and twisting over patients to find the best angles for procedure, I have also changed my diet. Knowing that glucose produces energy in the body, I eat more complex carbs, cut fat, and reduced processed sugars. Also adding proteins. I eat limited meats by choice because I really don’t enjoy them, though I do eat chicken. My question is, how long will it take to see results assuming I eat correctly, and do run walk intervals 5 days a week adding sit ups daily? I got very good test results from my last physical, and I would enjoy staying healthy this is also a secondary reason. Also, Suggestions are welcome for improving my in-home training and diet.
I’m a beginner, I can’t run distance, which is why I am doing intervals.

You’ve got a good mindset, but we need to smooth some stuff out.

First and foremost, acknowledging you’re a beginning runner is good…but can also work against you because you’re already limiting yourself. No, you don’t go out and run a marathon, but you need to push yourself a bit harder.
My immediate suggestion would be to do a mile and a half instead of 0.7 miles. If you don’t have a track or set distance to run other than 0.7 miles, then just do whatever path you’re doing twice, back to back. Unless you have some kind of heart condition, you’re going to be able to do this just fine.
Oh, I don’t mean it will be easy. In fact, it’ll probably be very humbling, but you need to do it. Your body needs to be pushed and won’t adjust to a higher difficulty level unless you set the bar higher and MAKE it.

Next, instead of doing the running intervals and ONLY running intervals, try changing it up. You can try sprint intervals, where instead of just running you sprint as fast as you can for 100-200 yards and then jog for 2 minutes. You can also do endurance runs once a week where you do 3 miles at a steady pace (difficult but maintainable).

If you really want a Hot Bod, return the shake weight and buy a dumbbell with weights you can change. There are dumbbells that have screws on them and you can attach plate weights just like a barbell…but smaller. This allows you to continue pushing yourself by adding more weight to the bar, which you can’t do with the shake weight, but prevents you from having to buy a new set of dumbbells every couple weeks. You should be able to pick these up cheaply from Craigslist or a place like Play It Again Sports, a second-hand sports store. Then learn how to lift weights (email me if you have questions).
Will you get bulky? Only if you want to. Bulk doesn’t happen on accident.

I noticed that you said you don’t like meat…well, you don’t have to. You don’t need to eat meat in order to get protein, and you can definitely become a vegetarian or vegan and still be fit and healthy. Due to a disability I got while in the Marines, I have to see a doctor regularly. I am now a vegan and every time my blood is drawn I have "optimal" levels of my nutrients…and I don’t take vitamin supplements.

Alternate things you can do in-home are aerobic DVDs (great for when it’s cold or raining), plyometrics (Google it), and yoga.

  • Can a prospective employer contact a former job on your resume?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

…even if you didn’t use them as a reference/put down the phone number? If it was a horrible job & horrible boss, does the new employer consider both sides when you say there was mismanagement & an unstable work environment if asked on an initial interview on phone? In other words, innocent til proven guilty? will they give you a chance even if the fomer job says you were awful even tho untrue? To be more specific, i was a dental assistant & got fired almost a year ago. I had to go get a shot (when the swine flu epidemic was going on) before they ran out. They knew I had an appointment but my boss flipped out anyway. And so I was fired via snail-mail a couple days later over a weekend. Management was horrible there, people quitting all the time, unstable work place. I was a good employee, always on-time, was trained & patients loved me. These are things the next prospective employer would find out if they hired me. Im afraid my old job will get called & I’ll get screwed over.. But I’m not sure how this works, as I’m 23 & have had a couple jobs at this point. any input on this appreciated…Thanks!

As long as they have your previous job contact information they can call to see what type of employee you were and a lot of them will. But if there is no contact info it just looks like you didn’t work during that time frame.

  • Chewing gum after carbonated drinks?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

Well i’ve been trying to get into a good dental routine for my teeth, aside from brushing twice a day and using mouthwash the biggest issue i’m having is the problems caused by soft drinks, in my case it’s Coke. Having been on the stuff for years i’ve developed quite an addiction to caffeine and my dentist recommended that I start by switching to Diet Coke (or Coke Zero, same thing really).

So even though i’ve greatly reduced my daily sugar intake there still lies the issue of acid erosion, i’ve researched a multitude of ways to work around this with rinsing after drinking being a common favourite.

However, my taste buds are douchebags and as a result i’m not a big fan of water, so instead I came across another method which is chewing sugarless gum.

So my question is how effective is chewing gum after drinking acidic drinks/food?

chewing gum creates a lot of saliva in the mouth which helps to clean up the teeth and remove stains.
its a good habit to chew gum after meals or drinking coke.
keep up the good habit.
main thing is to keep the teeth clean after every meal, either by brushing or chewing gum but do remember to brush at night before going to sleep.
