  • Will this be our fate if Obama Care is not approved?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I just found this ad on Craigslist and have seen multiple ads in the past few months in which people barter their services or products, such as plumbing, electricity, painting jobs, etc., for dental work. I have also seen at least three dentists themselves bartering their services in exhange for "complete refacing of kitchen cabinets", or for "complete bathroom remodeling", "painting of entire home" or "refurbishing driveway"…..Of course I am seen that from lawyers as well!

But, take a look at the story below, and see for yourself if yout think the new healthcare (which I’m not even sure if still approved because last I heard it had been taken to court based on fact that Rebublicans say it is unconstitutional or something.

Do you think Obama Care will finally appear in 2014 or will we end up like the people in the story below?

*****************************************************

"I read a story the other day about a man who had a tooth ache so bad that he self medicated and then was rushed to the hospital where he later died and was survived by his wife and four children. I don’t want this to be my story too. I’m married with 3 children. Right now my husband has been looking for a job for the past year with no luck. He now is taking care of our 1 year old daughter and my job is the only income coming in. Our problem is that my husband needs dental work. He has 3 teeth that are so bad they are no longer even teeth its just a root and I know that they are infecting the rest. I dont even kiss my husband on the lips anymore because I don’t want it spreading to my mouth, can you imagine how that makes him feel and I feel awful because of it!. He self medicates to help with the pain and I’m scarred. He can take up to six 500mg ibuprofen at one time up to 3 times a day it gets him so sick when he does this and i beg him to stop but its the only thing to help with the pain. I’ve bought cavity filler, anbesol, even a all natural Topical anageisc and one day he asked me to take a flat head and try and lift it out like it was a nail! I don’t know what to do all my income goes straight to bills! He’s been to the Health Department and because it’s not a simple extraction they won’t pull it out for a low cost. They want $250.00 each tooth! I tried calling FAU for there dental program and there not taking patients right now. We cant afford to pay 250.00 a tooth. We’re struggling to pay the bills as it is and I’m sure allot of the world is now a days. I’m DESPERATE at this point and am asking anyone who is reading this if you know a dentist that does charity work or if you are a dentist or know a really CHEAP dentist that can extract even one for LOW cost I would be forever greatful! He doesn’t kow that I’m doing this and I have tears in my eyes becuase I never thought I would get so desperate to ask complete strangers for something like this but I dont know what else to do, I dont want to bury my husband because of a tooth! We will travel anywhere in South FL. Please respond immediatley with any information and I will respond! Thank you and Glod Bless all the struggling families dealing with simuliar situations!"

The fate of America, if the Affordable Healthcare Act is destroyed by those on the right (of both parties) is that many Americans will suffer third class healthcare.

FACT – Insurance companies in the USA before the reforms pushed up prices, did not pay out claims when they should and bought or blackmailed politicians [1]
FACT – PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [2]
FACT – Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [3]
FACT – the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [4]
FACT – Obama was elected to bring in change [5]
FACT – Obama wants to stop insurance companies from screwing America [6]
FACT – The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and Switzerland [7]

Let me know if my facts are wrong, but please provide proof.

  • I work for BPI Dental, a web marketing company. I need telemarketing tips, badly.?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I recently got a job with BPI Dental, and we specialize in web marketing, as I stated above. We cold call dental offices and offer them our services to help them bring more patients into their practice, using things like search engine optimization, social networking, and custom web design.
I.. am a terrible telemarketer, from what I can tell at least. I know I am new and need to give myself time to adjust and learn, but I would really appreciate tips from anyone on how to be more.. persuasive, I suppose. I just really don’t know how to market things to people over the phone.
I’ve never done telemarketing, and I can’t say it’s really my cup of tea, sitting in a cubicle with a phone glued to my ear, but it’s a job, and I want to do my utmost to succeed and earn my pay.
Again, any sort of advice, tricks, all of this would be extremely helpful.

If you treat it like a job you will not get the results try not to put pressure on yourself result will come when you are relaxed and carefree. I have been cold calling for about 15 years practice your pitch or scpript then throw it in the bin. Chat to people try and develop a relationship with your client, treat people like human beings they are less likely to be aggressive towards you.

Break it into three segmants
intro
pitch
closure

intro brief and to the point who am, what I do,

Pitch

sales pitch

Closure
try and get some commitment from them at the end phone call back, email follow up,

Keep the whole thing as short as possible clients are not interested in listening to the life history of your company, Chat about what they do what they intend to do with their company,

Then at the end make sure you ask the killer question would that be something you would be interested in doing, or a close similar focused around the product
Get your call rates up telesales in numbers game the more you speak to the more chance of getting the sales you have

  • How should I approach a dentist to barter my marketing skills in exchange for dental care?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I don’t have dental coverage, my business is marketing and my smile is a mess.

In order to barter the value of your services should be equal or close to the dentist. So first look for a dentist offering free exams and x-rays, cleanings for new patients this is approx value of $200 savings and a great way for you to introduce yourself and become familiar with your new dentist and customer. Now back to the marketing part obvisously if you have the coupon for free services he is marketing but your referrals may still matter for discount for each referral and if your create an affordable avenue to mail out or distribute the coupons, cards etc. for a set discount amount. In addition you let him know you are paying privately (cash) and plan your treatment according to your budget and your marketing services discount.

For more savings on your bill you can obtain low cost dental care by enrolling in a discount dental plan for about $100.00 for the entire year! Discount dental plans provide 10-60% off routine dental care and expensive dental procedures plus select plans offer FREE exams, x-rays etc.

Now you have saved hundreds off your dental bill by combining the discount dental plan, marketing and coupon either way you will receive a treatment plan with costs and you will know how much to barter and it’s worth to both of you.

Look below for a few more tips on how to cut dental costs

  • How should I go about handling my breech of patient confidentiality being exposed.?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I went to my son’s orthodontist appointment yesterday and right at the front desk I was asked if my insurance had changed, I answered no it was terminated because I am no longer working. So, the receptionist continued stating that I would be responsible for the remaining balance of 950.00 but if I get another job that offers insurance she would then try to pursue the balance with the new insurance carrier. I then stated to her that my son does have the state insurance which also covers dental and she stated that they do not accept Medicaid but, that they can set up a payment plan of 50.00 monthly. At this very moment I was speechless and could not continue to speak as my tears ran down my face from the embarrassment and humiliation that this was bought to my attention in front of an office full of patients patiently waiting in the waiting room. I couldn’t say anything and walked out the door for some fresh air in the attempts to collect myself from the embarrassment, I then realize that there was no way that I could walk back into the office so, I walked to my car waiting for my son to finish being seen.

sorry you were embarrassed….. no reason to be, a lot of people don’t have insurance…………….

they were simply explaining their payment policy to you and were more helpful then they had to be they could have demanded payment before any services were rendered…….

being without insurance is no reason to get embarrassed, swallow your pride……..
your confidentiality was NOT exposed…..

  • Dental Marketing has anyone had any success with this?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I’m looking to get some more business to my dads Clinic and wondereds what people suggest?

The foundation for any dental marketing system is local presence especially online. this is best acheived with google places having your business show up on google maps will not only help you rank in the top ten of google but more importantly have your business as a pin on the google map.

You should then back this up with a website, it will increase the number of calls to your office and allow people to research you online

after that there is whole host of options, from on and offpage optimisation of your site, search engine optimisation and keyword research, strongly suggest you use a professional team to help with that.

Then there is a host of offline methods from promotional material like flyers, brochures to texting patients for appointments.

  • Advise for parent’s of children with sensory issues?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I have 2 yr old twin girls. The youngest of the two has moderate sensory issues. It’s really difficult dealing with her because she won’t eat certain foods based on how they "feel". Even if she’s eaten them before you change even the slightest thing & she will notice. She is really hyperactive. When she plays she will constantly walk. She won’t stop even if you sit her down to drink anything. She will get up to walk with it in her hand. I don’t want to take her places with me because she can’t sit still or be quiet for long periods of time. She is also slower learning because her attention span is so short. I have to tell her the same things over & over again. Even though that is normal for two year olds learning their boundaries. It’s especially difficult with her. Anything new presented to her is a battle to try when it comes to food. If she goes to a dr visit if she feels she had a traumatic experience she will automatically cry & cling to me. Like a dental check-up. (IE- She had a dental check-up & it traumatized her. All her sisters went with her & they were fine. After that for about a month she would get terrified going anywhere she didn’t know or didn’t visit a lot & cling to me & only me for dear life. She wouldn’t even go to her dad.) I love her & we have a physical therapist who is helpful with certain things. But I’m having a hard time with her because I don’t know what to do. I try to be more patient with her. It’s really hard to deal with her. I love her but I don’t like her. It hurts me to say that. I really want to have a good relationship with her. But I don’t know how to do that with someone I can’t hug because she can’t still long enough to. She doesn’t even know how to give kisses. I showed her how (I really thought it would be a piece of cake), but she had a hard time with it. She even has a hard time doing simple things like sticking out her tongue. She loves chicken nuggets but if I change the brand she won’t eat it. I just don’t know what to do. She gets really attachted to certain things. So when I try to take it from her to show her something new she cries bloody murder. I don’t know what to do.

It is not as uncommon as you may think. I have an 11 year old son who was the same way. I first noticed when he started eating jar baby food, at about 6 months of age. The colour of the food had to be orange and there could be no change in the flavor. If I tried to put, lets say a little bit of pureed peas in with his pureed spaghetti (which was orange), he would notice the change of flavor right away and would throw up. My munchkin has been quite the challenge, but I love him dearly. He was diagnosed with an overly sensitive mouth/taste buds and an over-reactive gag reflex. The good news is that he has outgrown alot of these things. He is still a picky eater, but at least he eats foods that are not all orange in colour (lol) and is able to get the nutrients he needs all from foods. My son’s first "real" dentist appointment was at the hospital. He was 4 years old and they had to give him an anesthetic. His experiences at a regular dentist was to throw up. No-one could put something in his mouth – he would throw up. He has since out-grown his throwing up, but it took removing his tonsils and he was about 6 when it stopped. To go out, anywhere, my son had a routine that had to be followed, or he would scream and cry the whole way and he would only stop when we got home and he was able to do his routine. The doctor said that it sounded like he had obsessive-compulsive tendencies and that he should outgrow it. Thankfully, he has. He was also very fussy on who could touch him, and when. I never made a big fuss over it, and now, I get the biggest hugs and smiles that just melts my heart.

My first suggestion to you to take her to a pediatrician for her to have a full physical. Tell the doctor what you have noticed with your daughter and he/she should be able to give you options and support for what you and your daughter are going through. My second suggestion to you would be to find a dietitian/nutritionist. They can work with you and your daughter on her issues. My son’s dietitian was so beneficial in more ways than one. One way was suggesting different ways I could ensure that my son would receive enough nutrients – Pediasure Plus was a supplement she suggested. Another way she assisted us was suggesting having my son play with food – the theory being that he was "tasting through touch". It had to be done slowly, with one specific food at a time for a period of a month on average, and was one way to get him to overcome his dislike and fear of different foods. You are going to need alot of patience – just keep reminding yourself that she will outgrow alot of this. Everywhere I went with my son, I always brought his food with us, even to restaurants. If he wanted to try something, I would let him. If he didn’t like it, I didn’t push it as I knew that he would outgrow many of his fears/dislikes. If I had pushed it, it would have taken longer for him to get over his fear/dislike of that food. A speech pathologist may be needed to assist your daughter in mouth movement, by helping her exercise the different muscles in her mouth, I know that my son did.

I know that I must be rambling. I hope that you know that you are not alone, and don’t take your daughter’s issues personally. She will outgrow most of the things you have mentioned. Just be patient and love her. Try not to push things with her as she will only cling more fiercely to the fears and dislikes and this will have disastrous effects on her Psyche as she grows older. Give her the time and space she needs, she will eventually come around. It is not her fault nor yours that she is the way she is right now, and she will eventually grow up into a well-adjusted young woman.

Good luck!!

    posted by Kris Nickerson

Just curious. Now there are "varieties" of dental floss, whose marketing says they’re more effective or clean more surface area or what-have-you. I’m just curious if anyone has any reason to call any particular kind the best and if so, why.

def the colgate one. Why?
It can get too those hard too reach areas and also gets very far back in your mouth.. and gives your mouth a fresh feeling breath!

  • Discount dental insurance?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

Hello, I am looking into purchasing discount dental insurance for 20 a month for me and my husband. Thing is we need ALOT done. He needs 3 root canals, deep cleaning and a few cavities, i need 6 cavities and a deep cleaning. We only have about 100 a week left over after bills and need to figure something out? Does anyone have any expierence with this? I went on the site and found dentists in my area and how much things cost if you go to that dentist w/ this plan, and things are pretty cheap, but how do i know thats real, and how do i ask for a "exam" and an estimate? is that possible to both go in and get the free exam and xrays for new patients and then ask for an estimate w/ this insurance and let them get back to me? i really have no clue how to go about this. We really need this stuff done.
man people dont understand english. I have a place i want to get it I NEED TO KNOW HOW IT WORKS. someone who has it allready and has used it and example of their personal expijerence and prices. sheesh can i make it clearer?

First, relax! Most dental problems are not emergencies. So you can calmly look at your options and decide what is best for you. Read on…

Most employers provide some kind of dental cover for their employees. Dental Insurance, dental reimbursement plans, group plans etc. are some of types of dental cover provided by employers. If you have one of these then most of your dental costs will be covered under them and you need to pay only a percentage of the costs. I assume you and your husband DO NOT have any of these types of dental cover.

The cheapest option for you right now is to find a dental school near you and get registered there. The students at the dental school are always in need of patients to learn their craft. So, find out if they are willing to take you as patients. You will be worked on by student dentists and the outcome may not be great but you can expect reasonable amount of care as they will be supervised by their teachers.

But if you want good quality dental care then an option you can explore is getting dental discount plans – these are not dental insurance remember – they are kind of discount clubs. The company offering the discount dental plan negotiates a deal with dentists around the country to offer their dental services at lower costs then it would normally cost. The whole thing is upfront. That is you know how much you have to pay for your dental treatment.

For example: Here’s a sample Actual You Pay
Root Canal Treatment – Front Tooth $542 $336
Root Canal Treatment – Bicuspid $646 $403
Root Canal Treatment – Molar $829 $491

What you could do is save $100 left every week and after you have accumulated say 400 dollars at the end of month get one root canal treated. That way at the end of the year you could get most of dental treatment done.

What you can also do is visit the dentists around your area and get an estimate for the overall dental treatment for both of you. You could outline your position to them and ask them to give you an overall plan so you can plan your treatment over the course of a year or two.

Most dental treatments are not an emergency so you can spread out your costs over a year or two. Ask your dentist to priortize your treatment needs. That way you will be able to get the most needed treatment first.

I know you can’t put all your money into getting dental treatment alone. Several other emergencies will crop up claiming your savings. But don’t worry things will work out with a little bit of planning and care. Try a combination of dental school and discount dental insurance to make the most of what you have.

All the best!
