  • SMELL FROM A NEW DENTAL CROWN – HELP?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I got a new crown about a month ago. When I massage my gums, I smell and taste something bad emanating from the crown area. It’s not a very strong taste or smell but it really bothers and worries me. I do not remember but I think the tooth had a cavity that was filled before the crown was placed upon it. I told my dentist about the smell and he says that I am one of those patients that has bacteria and that’s just the way it is. He says it happens through the nose where the air runs to my mouth and feeds the bacteria that causes the bad smell. I don’t have any nose problem, sinusitis or sinus infection so I don’t know what he is talking about!!!! I didn’t have bad breath before. He also says the smell has nothing to do with the crown and that I have to floss and use mouthwash. I brush my teeth after each meal, floss often and no matter how much mouthwash I use, I still taste and smell something wrong. I just don’t want to hear in the near future that I have gum disease because my dentist didn’t take care of the problem. What can cause the bad taste from the crown?

Eva,

What type of material was the crown made from? Sometimes if there is too much metal exposed in the crown, you may have some sensitive taste buds that are tasting the metal. Another cause may have to do with how good/poor the crown is fitting on the tooth. If there are any open margins or gaps between the crown and the tooth, food/bacteria can collect there to cause the bad smell/taste. Hope that helps to explain what you’re experiencing.

  • Marketing ideas to promote a business?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

Hello! :)

I work at a dental office and we’re trying to come up with ways to promote our practice. It’s a small office with one dentist and one hygienist (that comes in only 2 times a week). We open on Saturdays (which is our most liked day).
We’re trying to attract new long-term patients.
How can we do that? What can we do?

It’s illegal to provide free stuff (example, free gas card) for new patients here. So we have to be very creative.

Thanks for you help! :)

Hi, you require both online and offline marketing.
Creating a website would be a start.
Once you have a website, getting yourself on social media (i.e twitter, facebook and Linkedin) is the next step.
It is crucial at this stage to have reviews or testimonials from your clients as well.
If you dont know how to do this, then high an expert to build your website and a social media manager to do the articles and blogging stuff. Spend money to make money!!
Your presence on google, yahoo and bing is also important.
If you require some help, contact me directly.
Offline marketing, would be leaflets, have an open day to demonstrate your services to the locals. Half price treatments, hire spare rooms to other therapists …….

  • Is teeth whitening a marketing manipulation of the dental industry (also called medical lobby)?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

No. Most dentists are constantly telling their patients that whitening would not help them and that teeth are not supposed to be white. If nobody ever asked me about whitening ever again I’d be very happy.

The fastest and cheapest way to whiten your teeth is to put lipstick on. Your teeth instantly look whiter.

  • How to start a history article essay about attacking or defending the decision to drop the atomic bomb?
    posted by Kris Nickerson

I have to write a one page essay in an article format whether I am for or against Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I kind of want to say stuff like the pros and cons about what could happen. Please help.

I would first off just pick a side and stick with it, otherwise your just giving facts. So whatever you pick, research it and give statements as to why you support it. But do whatever you want, it’s just what I would do, I think the teacher would enjoy your essay more if you formed your own opinion in the paper.
